REST IS THE NEW PRODUCTIVITY

Sometimes, brands need to take a rest, too. See, doesn’t this look appealing?

 

Recently, I learned that rest is the key to performing at optimal levels.

Why did it take me until this ripe age to understand what we inherently all know, that taking a break does wonders for you? 

 

It has to do with heart rate variability (HRV). (You’re going to be hearing a lot more about it if you haven’t already, btw.) If your body is in a relaxed state, the variation in time between your heartbeats is high. If you’re in an anxious state, the variation in time between your heartbeats is low. 

 

To quote the Harvard Health blog

“If we have persistent instigators such as stress, poor sleep, unhealthy diet, dysfunctional relationships, isolation or solitude, and lack of exercise, this balance may be disrupted, and your fight-or-flight response can shift into overdrive.

Listen, this goes for brands, too. 

 

Sometimes, brands need to take a rest.

They, too, need to take a break from adding to the nonstop noise of social media and the never ending cascade of articles that are inescapably part of the modern world.  

No need to make an apology for it. Most likely, no one will notice you’re on a little hiatus, because they’re all so busy keeping up with their own to-dos. 

 

I like to preach consistency. It’s so very important for brands.

But that doesn’t mean you have to have a continual water hose of content streaming from your brand.

 

It’s ok to take a pause. Turn off the hose and conserve a bit of energy. That way, you’ll feel more refreshed and be ready for whatever comes next, and be able to consistently show up with fresh ideas soon after.

Do something good for your heart and take time to rest and relax!
